DisasterChef

A while back when a friend of mine got engaged we were served with the most delightful Daging Masak Hitam ever. the taste was so out of this world, even thinking of it today makes my mouth water. i decided to ask umi (her mom) for the recipe and only today i had the courage to give it a try.

Looking at the recipe i noticed serbuk kari is in the list of ingredients. i was in doubt, because after several surveys through google no other recipes for Daging Masak Hitam include serbuk kari in it. Yelah, ape kaitan serbuk kari dengan daging masak hitam? but being the obedient person that i am, i followed her recipe anyway. Maybe that was the secret ingredient that made the dish so flavorful. and the results? well it tasted weirdly awful. its thick, too curry-like, nothing like the daging masak hitam i had that day. Worst thing is its nearly lunch time, dad is going to come home and i have no time to cook up another dish. Haha.

So i ended up doing what a normal person would do in situation like this. I threw the gravy away lol. I heat up another pan, threw some sliced onions, garlic, ginger and lemon grass in it. Pour some sweet soy sauce, and put in the meat i had before. I guess it tasted alright phew. So that's the story of how i came to learn that you always need to do your study before trying out a new recipe -.-'.
